They'll Never Believe Me!

This large neon installation reproduces the ambiguous and evocative line from the final verse of the popular wartime song 'They Wouldn’t Believe Me'. This song, with music by Jerome Kern and lyrics by Herbert Reynolds, was written for the musical 'The Girl From Utah' in 1914, and later satirised in Richard Attenborough’s film 'Oh! What a Lovely War' in 1969.
