This showcase at the Museum of Cannock Chase contained documention of the Christmas truce of 1914, and included General Walter Congreve’s original Christmas day letter to his wife, describing the events of the Christmas truce and mentioning a football match “... I hear it was further north, 1st R.B. (rifle bridade) playing football with the Germans opposite them”.
