MUFC Lockdown Banners Re-Make

With Manchester United Football Club

Using the narrative surrounding the Manchester United Lockdown Banners and the MUFC Club Pillars, as a starting point, first year Textiles in Practice students are challenged to work both collectively and individually to explore how these and other obsolete synthetics can be developed, transformed, and redefined into new, useful materials.

With a spatial context in mind, they will consider how their work could interact with its audience and the larger community along with the potential dialogue and experiences it could facilitate. As part of this project students are asked to rigorously document the synthetic materials they work with and the processes they put them through, reimagining them into ambitious forms that investigate macro and micro scale. Students will envision these within a chosen space and represent through visualisations.
