Conservation Starts at Home
With Edit Brand and Chester Zoo
This year our L4 Illustration with Animation Unit X partner is Edit Brand. It’s Edit’s mission to help arts, culture and knowledge-based organisations attract, engage, educate, and inspire – helping more and more of us make better choices about our lives, health, environment, technology, and our futures. In 2022, Editwere tasked with creating a new brand identity for the Wildlife Connections campaign for Chester Zoo.
Their goal was to raise the profile of Wildlife Connections and help people to understand more about what they do and why they do it. Wildlife Connections was launched in 2016 with the aim of creating safe, connected spaces for UK wildlife through community participation. The campaign works to CONNECT people with wildlife, wildlife with wildlife and people with people.
One key part of the brand that still needs to be developed is illustration and animations. They briefed our students to develop work that brings the idea of the Wildlife Connections to life with outcomes such as illustrated and/or animated social media campaigns and branding, visualising school curriculum packs, to 3D set design, signage and mapping, and informative animations and GIFS - all supported via a series of creative and technical workshops.
The project allowed the students to all individually consider what conservation is happening on their doorstep, and how they can help engage and inform the public with their findings.
