Confidence has become a metric, a unit of measure under late capitalism. Paulius Petraitus' work explores the confidence metrics of Artificial Intelligence image labelling applications, exploring through books and exhibitions the recognition and misrecognition of everyday photographic images. This text asserts that the tendency for machine learning to flatten the world into recognisable types provides a critical interface between photographic discourses and new technological processes that require our attention.
