Every year between 2017 - 2022 I came out to 200 first year students in a lecture theatre, not only for visibility, but for students to recognise the benefits of bringing their whole selves to their chosen profession. This paper will reflect on a lecture I gave to discuss the principles of collaborative design with building users, in which I describe my involvement in the re-building of the LGBT+ Community Centre in Manchester which I had worked on as a designer and researcher.
