Alice Kettle's textile commission for the Discovery Center, Winchester, rank as one of the most ambitious embroidery commissions and extends the range of stitch practice into architectural space on a significant scale. The project theme was entitled "Winchester past, present and future" which partly based on the Winchester Bible, a remarkable and beautiful medieval manuscript. The making process has involved changing Alice's practice and had to train four employing assistants. The finished pieces will hang in the newly built foyer of the center, emphasizing the expanded role of the library as a center for the arts.
