Film Talks is a peer-reviewed book of artists conversations on experimental cinema with a forward by eminent film theorist Jonathan Walley.
The publication includes historic figures from the experimental film world alongside contemporary practitioners providing an overview of contemporary experimental filmmaking practice. The book represents a contemporary snapshot on the ways in which experimental cinema is perceived by its practitioners, often in relation to other art forms, moving image culture at large and wider social issues.
I co-authored a chapter entitled Misbehaving Materials with Bea Haut with whom I often collaborate. Our conversation focusses on specific key terms that are pertinent to our respective practices - action, cinema, performative, absurd - and the text is structured around these themes. The conversation considers materiality, spatial concerns, performance and film methodologies moving through fine art, feminist standpoints and a shared sense of humour.
