Echo: digital interventions in a conversation between dance and drawing
Output Type: | Presentation |
Venue: | Centre for Dance Research, Coventry |
This presentation formed part of the programme for the 5th Digital Echoes symposium organised by C-Dare, Coventry. It discussed ECHO, a drawing/dance performance work shown over an earlier two-day period in March 2013. ECHO initiated from observing conversational gestures of forgetting and remembering that were developed into a choreographed sequence. This sequence was captured using motion capture technology, then data from the lines of movement of the dancer's hands were translated as wall and floor adhesive vinyl drawings at scale in the performance space. These drawings, developed over two days, functioned as an evolving choreographic score prompting a series of new improvised dance responses.
