PAIRINGS II – conversations & collaborations
Exhibition and Symposium
Stroud International Textiles presents a ground breaking exhibition exploring the results of makers and designers working in collaboration and exchanging skills, ideas, tools, materials. With 22 leading artist makers who have created new work the exhibition brings together partnerships of makers to discuss and share the experience of making. Coming from a variety of material backgrounds the final work promises to be innovative and inspiring.
The exhibition will include new work from Ismini Samanidou, Alice Kettle, Helen Felcey, David Gates, Sharon Blakey, Shelly Goldsmith, Nigel Hurlstone, Jilly Morris, Rachel Kelly among others who share a mixture of skills and creative disciplines. Ceramics, wood, felt, glass, embroidery, paper, glass are some of the skills that are shared.

Pairings II is curated by international textile artist Alice Kettle and SIT artistic director Lizzi Walton.
The exhibition will be at the Museum in the Park,
Stratford Park Stroud GL5 4AF

Talks and workshops will complement the Pairings II exhibition.

Saturday May 5th
Linking to the exhibition is a major Symposium where a panel of artists, academics and writers will consider and explore how they have been inspired to create by collaborating. Speakers include Helen Storey, Tony Ryan, Jessica Hemmings, Rhian Solomon.
The day will be chaired by artist-curator Alice Kettle.

Also in May is the Textile Trail open studios that takes place over two weekends. On 12/13 19/20 May textile artists open the doors of their studios to welcome visitors to see their private spaces and buy direct
A World Textile Fair on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 May with world travelers presenting textiles and artefacts from all around the world.
