LULL Exhibition

LULL brings together artists Caitlin Akers, Sarah Blaszczok, Linda Hemmersbach, Sophie Lee and Lauren Steeper to responds to the experience of motherhood, and a shared goal of sustaining an art practice while raising young children. Through accepting interruption, working in new media and making peace with the unfinished, each artist has found ways to create in the lulls between the demands of caregiving. Limitation of time is at play here, as well as space. The space to imagine, to lay down paper or print, the space to finish a thought or a conversation. LULL begins a new conversation by placing creative works next to one another. Initiating a dialogue between the works and contributing to the current conversation about the importance of the artist mother as a cultural figure.
