P.E.R.C.E.P. (Prepared Environment for Research into the Crossmodal Effects of Perception)
A project concerned with the development and integration of a multi-sensory laboratory based in the Digital Innovation shed. PERCEP will be a multi-disciplinary space that can be sensorially engineered. Sonic, visual, olfactory, haptic, and gustatory stimuli will be activated, controlled and their effects on participants accurately measured via psychophysiological technologies. Undertaken in collaboration with commercial partner Ove Arup, the project will draw together expertise and technologies existent across MMU faculties and includes the 60+ member-strong Digital Innovation group. Expected impact will occur in the areas of art and science, health and well-being and environmental/experiential design.
