OWT 13 : Remix : contribution to collaborative project.
OWT 13: Remix/recycle. Publication /Event.
OWT creative is a design collective based in Manchester who work collaboratively making print and digital artwork. OWT zine began as a live collaborative research project lead by three students studying MA Design and Art Direction at the Manchester School of Art. A range of designers and artists have contributed to the 12 issues of the zine, OWT have established a solid reputation within the world of zines and have a National distribution arrangement with Magma books.
The Graphics programme at Manchester School of Art have commissioned OWT to produce an additional publication, 13, to celebrate the conclusion of the 12 issue project and examine the positive impact it has had on the culture of the Graphic Design programme.
Contributors were invited to submit artwork that might be “Remixed” with existing material already submitted for OWT. The project utilises the Schools recently acquired Risograph printer to offer a variety of spontaneous collaborations. The mechanics of the machine illuminate the process of the “remix” project
The actual remix became a live event through print but also at an external venue in Manchester on 5 July 2012 when the process of collating the publication formed a “live” editorial activity.
Professor Teal Triggs, a supporter of the OWT project will contribute a short text to recognise the impact of the project.
