f. Made in Translation: Bessie and her Babies: 2017
Group residency at the historic Portico Library and Gallery, Manchester City centre. Individual and collaborative works were made in response to works of non-fiction, selected from the Portico Library collection. Eleanor's response culminated in a series of experimental works in ceramics. These pieces investigate animation genealogies, through process and through a re-interpretation of Early Modern witchtrial records. The work draws specifically from the narrative of the cunning woman and healer, Bessie Dunlop, approached through the lens of folkloric dimensions and spirit visions, responding also to the writings of Emma Wilby and Lizanne Henderson.
