2021 Haworth Trust Scholarships Open for Applications

16 July 2021

Three new scholarships available, funded by The Haworth Trust

A series of Fine Art scholarships, funded by The Howarth Trust, are now accepting applications from Manchester School of Art students.

This is the second year of the Scholarships, which provide opportunities to inspire and enable the next generation of artists to be encouraged and supported through their study of Fine Art and beyond.

Two First Generation Scholarships will be awarded to two gifted students from the Greater Manchester area who are the first in their family to attend university to study for a degree in Fine Art. More information on eligibility can be found on our First Generation website.

The Manchester’s Artist Community Studio Scholarship will provide students with financial support and recognition to support their professional development during the first year after graduation. The award will provide funds to support the development of a  professional practice, such as funding a studio space, time to further develop painting and to exhibit work.

The studio scholarship is open to 2021 Fine Art graduates with a practice in painting. Applications should be on a single side of A4 with a statement on how you would benefit from the award, your plans to be based in Manchester, together with two images of your work.

Please send applications for the Manchester’s Artist Community Studio Scholarship for consideration by the selection panel to Dr Ian Hartshorne (i.hartshorne@mmu.ac.uk) before 1st September, 2021.

The Masters’ Scholarship in Painting will provide £10,000 to support an MA/MFA Painting student over the course of a year, allowing an artist to realise their ambition and vision for their practice whilst allowing the time and space to focus on their studies.

Open to applicants who hold an offer to study on MA/MFA Painting at Manchester School of Art, MMU for the 2021/22 academic year. In order to apply, applicants must not have been in receipt of any other Haworth Trust Art Scholarship.

Applications should be on a single side of A4, and should include a statement on how you would use and benefit from the Award together with two images of your work.

Please send applications for the Masters Scholarship for consideration by selection panel to Dr Ian Hartshorne (i.hartshorne@mmu.ac.uk) before 1st September, 2021.
