Hannah Blakeman bags £2000 and an internship with the international fashion brand
BA Fashion student Hannah Blakeman has won the annual Burberry Fashion Design Competition, organised by the British Fashion Council. She has secured £2000, as well as a three-month internship with the international fashion brand.
Burberry and the British Fashion Council tasked students from across the UK with creating fashion designs, represented with a moodboard and illustrations, responding to the themes of depicting character and identity through design, and considering how identity can be defined in a fluid, digital world.
Shortlisted entrants were then presented their ideas to an industry panel at including Joe McGee (Womenswear Design Director for Burberry), Jasper Nielsen (Manchester Design Director, Burberry), Flossie Saunders (Fashion Editor for Sunday Times Style) and Candice Fragis (Buying and Merchandising Director for Farfetch).
‘I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to present my work to the panel at Burberry,’ commented Hannah. ‘It was an honour meeting everyone and recieving feedback.
I am ecstatic with the result and I look forward to joining the Burberry team.
Burberry’s ability to celebrate British culture while maintaining a sophisticated and luxury aesthetic, has been a huge influence within my own practice, and I hope to be a great addition to the team.’
