Fine Art student shortlisted for Saatchi award

Ilona Kiss, a graduate of this year’s MA Fine Art, has been chosen as one of the 20 shortlisted artists for this year’s Saatchi New Sensations Prize. Rebecca Wilson, Director at Saatchi Gallery said “We had over 800 entries this year so this is an incredible achievement.”
This is the second year in a row that graduates from the Fine Art courses have been selected for the prestigious award. Last year saw Bartosz Beda shortlisted and Rafal Topelewski was chosen as one of the four finalists.
The Prize is now established in the UK as the most important annual prize for emerging artists and it attracts entries each year from the best graduates studying at UK and Republic of Ireland art schools.
This year the exhibition will take place in London during Frieze week in October at B1, Victoria House, Bloomsbury, London WC1, a wonderful 20,000 sq ft space near the British Museum. The opening will be Saturday 12th October and the show will run for a week.
Earlier this year work Ilona’s work Island was selected to be purchased as one of the prizes for the MMU Staff Awards and she also participated in the School’s of Art exchange with The Dresden Academy of Fine Art, the second leg of which opens at The Holden Gallery on Thursday 26th September alongside this year’s Faculty MA Show.
