Meet the Designers at Manchester Weekender
29 September 2010
MSA students discuss their work
The designers of Reflective Room are taking part in the city’s first Manchester Weekender, from 1st to 3rd October 2010.
Over 48 hours no less than eight international festivals, spread across dozens of venues, with hundreds of artists and performers are being held.
A collection of ‘the best of Manchester’s art and culture’, visitors will enjoy a showcase of music, literature, theatre, history, architecture, art, food and drink.
Winning design
On Saturday 2nd October, 1-4pm, members of the public will have the opportunity to meet the team behind Reflective Room, the temporary structure in The Manchester Museum’s courtyard.
Reflective Room, designed by the Prototype Unit, was the winning structure in a competition that invited 5th Year students from the Manchester School of Architecture to design an environment for the space outside the Museum entrance.
As the name suggests, Reflective Room is intended to allow a few moments of quiet contemplation and has been on site since July this year.
Hear from and speak to designers
On Saturday the designers will be on hand all afternoon to answer questions and get visitors involved in activities.
The drop-in event is free and suitable for adults and older children.
This is one of the last chances to enjoy Reflective Room, which will be taken down next month.
