Professor in Top 50 designers
An MMU Professor has been named as one of the top 50 influences in design in 2008.
Design Week has selected David Crow amongst the likes of Tony Wilson and US company ‘Apple’.
Each year the magazine creates the list which celebrates the work of people who go the extra mile with their work in design by choosing the top 50 it deems the year’s best. The graphic designer, author, typographer and educationalist has now been recognised as one of the top runners.
An MMU graduate, David began his career in London where he was senior designer for Island Records, responsible for art direction and production and management of ad campaigns for leading artists.
Setting up his own studio as a freelance designer, his clients included Sony UK and USA, Virgin Records, Island Records and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Academic
David has taught in several universities including Liverpool John Moores and Salford before joining MMU as Head of the School of Design, where he has rebranded the School based on its Victorian heritage.
He has written many popular books such as Visible Signs and had his work featured in books including, The Typographic Experiment and No More Rules – Graphic Design and Postmodernism. David has exhibited his artwork worldwide as well as researching experimental typography.
