Manchester in Fashion

MMU experts speak at Urbis

MMU fashion experts join Wayne Hemingway and a host of industry celebrities for Manchester in Fashion this week (September 29-October 5).

The event sees city-centre museum Urbis transformed into a style haven for catwalk shows, designer shopping and talks by leading industry gurus.

Kicking things off on Monday, September 29 at 2pm is David Tyler, from MMU’s Hollings Faculty, who leads a session on colour for designers. David gives the inside track on how to ensure that the colours you design are the colours that end up being sold on the shop floor.

Then on Tuesday, 30 Septembee, 12 noon, Alison Welsh, programme leader on the University’s Fashion degree, leads a session on how to market your designs.

Market yourself

Aimed at graduates, Alison’s session – again for budding designers – gives tips on how to build up a profile, market yourself and your work and, ultimately, land the job you want in this tough but exciting industry.

Manchester in Fashion runs in partnership with Manchester Fashion Network, and features some of the biggest names in fashion – including Wayne Hemingway, David Mallon (The General Store), Roger Wade, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.
