Drama at The Lowry

School of Theatre goes 'off campus'

UNDERGRADUATES are to perform at The Lowry as part of their training for a life on the stage and screen.

Final-year students on the BA (Hons) Acting course will perform The Black Box at The Studio Theatre, the Lowry, Salford Quays, for four nights from May 31 to June 3.

The production – a collaboration of The Lowry and MMU’s School of Theatre – is the School’s first off-campus venture, albeit only a couple of miles from the campus theatre – The Capitol.

Air crash

Award-winning director and playwright Mark Murphy has been commissioned to create the thought-provoking play which takes place in the aftermath of an aeroplane crash. The actors are current MMU students and two recent graduates.

The Studio Theatre is a new 150-seat space at The Lowry built to present the very best in small-scale, high quality drama, comedy, music and dance.

The Black Box runs from Wed May 31 to Sat June 3. Tickets are £7 and £4
