Dad’s Doorways (2018 to 2023 and ongoing)
This series of work explores the inherent absence of the saucer as a representation of grief. In a processual manner, the work grows to hold space for memories of my Dad since his death in 2018. The work is both personal and open to others through the use of silhouette. Transfers are hand cut and utilise the powerful symbol of the doorway in combination with the colour gold as ‘chi’ (the essential energy) to activate the objects and allow others to follow their own journey into (and beyond) the work.
