Gesture as making: Letters to Anni
This ongoing project identifies everyday gestures as an unregistered form of drawing, using motion capture as the starting point in a process that makes ephemeral movement visible. Focusing on the gesture of handwriting, Letters to Anni explores the gaps and overlaps between the visual and the verbal. In collaboration with technology, gesture generates lines at the seam between writing and drawing and these manifest as 2D drawings and 3D-printed artefacts. They speak to gesture as an affirmation of being in the world.
