Deluge

By Gabriela Flarys and Andrea Maciel

7.30pm—8.30pm

Performance

In the wake of a relationship, a woman circles the drain, sifting through other people’s stories in an attempt to contain her overflowing thoughts. But something is blocked, and to make matters worse, there are leaks to fix in her house. It was meant to be a quick job, but the holes just keep getting bigger... the water is rising

Inspired by a break-up and over 40 interviews from a social media call-out, DELUGE puts a magic realist spin on dealing with and overcoming grief. The show blurs imagination with reality by invoking a surreal, tender and humorous dreamscape, combining movement with text, comedy, drama, live music and projections. It explores diverse responses to loss beyond human death by encompassing grief to the loss of pets, belongings, organs and relationships.

'Flarys’s intense physicality and irresistible charm draw you into the flood… Her impish humour cuts through the sadness and emphasises the absurdity of grief.'  British Theatre Guide ★★★★
