Talk #77
Short Supply
Short Supply is an artist-led organisation based in the North West. Short Supply’s goal since day one has been to help out early-career artists from the north by providing opportunities in the form of exhibitions, advice, commissions and access to a lovely network. Over time, Short Supply has become a bridge between early-career artists and the more established art world, breaking the cycle of needing work to gain a reputation and needing a reputation to get work. Instead of waiting for people with more experience to pay attention to emerging artists, they’ve been creating a platform ourselves. Notable projects include MADE IT which is Short Supply’s annual graduate art prize sponsored by CASS ART, Queer Contemporaries hosted by AIR Gallery which was a showcase of LGBTQIA+ creatives supported by Superbia and Manchester Pride, P-ART-Y hosted at Soup Kitchen in collaboration with PROFORMA which was an event used as a test bed to host four experimental performances and Material Concerns hosted by PAPER Gallery supported by G.F Smith, Fourth day and The Fourdrinier which was a presentation of Mollie and Rebekah's work as artists. Find more about these events and other projects on their archive page. Part of the Bunker x Holden Talks: Insights series held in Manchester School of Art in Autumn 2021.
